About This Grand Kufri Trip

Kufri is a short drive from Shimla and sits a few hundred metres higher, which is the whole point of it — it holds snow when Shimla has already thawed, and the views open out towards the greater Himalaya on a clear day.

It is a compact destination rather than a base for long touring. This package treats it that way: a focused stay built around Mahasu Peak, the ridge walks and the surrounding forest, easily combined with Shimla sightseeing.

Who This Tour Suits

  • Families with children, for the snow and the activity park
  • Short-break travellers with only a few days
  • Anyone visiting Shimla who wants a higher, quieter counterpoint

Know Before You Book

  • The last stretch to Mahasu Peak is walked or done on horseback; vehicles stop below.
  • Kufri gets very busy on winter weekends and during Delhi school holidays.
  • Warm layers and grippy footwear are worth having even outside deep winter — the ground stays wet and cold.
  • Facilities are limited compared with Shimla; most guests stay in Shimla and visit for the day.

What's Included

  • 6 nights premium hotel accommodation
  • Daily breakfast and dinner
  • Private air-conditioned cab for transfers & sightseeing
  • Certified local tour guide
  • All applicable taxes and toll charges
  • 24/7 on-trip travel assistance

Frequently Asked Questions

How far is Kufri from Shimla?

Roughly 16 km, which is normally a 45-minute drive but can take considerably longer on peak winter weekends when traffic on the Shimla-Kufri road backs up. Transfers are included in a private vehicle.

Is Kufri worth visiting in summer?

Yes, though for different reasons. Without snow the draw is the forest walks, the views towards the higher ranges and noticeably cooler air than Shimla. Summer is also far less crowded, which many guests prefer.

Can we reach Mahasu Peak without walking?

Vehicles stop short of the summit, so the final stretch is on foot or on horseback with local handlers. The walk is uphill but short. If mobility is a concern, mention it when booking so the day can be planned around it.
