About This Grand Jaipur Trip
Jaipur was laid out in 1727 on a grid, walled and painted terracotta pink — a planned city long before that was common. The result is that its landmarks sit close together: the Hawa Mahal facade on a busy bazaar street, the City Palace still partly occupied by the royal family, and Jantar Mantar with its full-size stone astronomical instruments.
Amber Fort, a few kilometres out, is the other half of the trip, and the one that needs the most time.
