About This Grand Himachal Trip

This is the long Himachal circuit rather than a single hill station: Shimla and the colonial ridge, the Kullu valley and Manali, and usually Dharamshala or Dalhousie further west. Nine days is what it takes to do that without living in the car.

The appeal is variety. Within one trip the landscape moves from deodar-covered ridges and toy-train country to the high, bare terrain above Manali and the Tibetan quarter of McLeod Ganj.

  • First-time visitors unsure which hill station to choose — this covers several

  • High passes and the Atal Tunnel can close at short notice in winter or after heavy snow.
  • July and August bring monsoon and landslide risk on hill roads.

What's Included

  • 8 nights accommodation
  • Daily breakfast
  • Private cab from Chandigarh (Swift Dzire / similar)
  • All sightseeing as per itinerary

Frequently Asked Questions

How much time is spent travelling on this tour?

Several hours on most transfer days, because Himachal's hill roads are winding and slow — a 200 km leg can easily take six or seven hours. The itinerary is spread over nine days precisely so those drives are broken up with full days in each place rather than back-to-back travel.

Is nine days enough to cover Himachal?

It covers the main circuit comfortably — Shimla, Kullu-Manali and the Dharamshala or Dalhousie side. It does not include Spiti or Lahaul, which need their own trip and a shorter season. If those interest you, ask about the Lahaul-Spiti heritage expedition instead.

What should we pack for a long Himachal tour?

Layers, because you will pass through several climates. A warm jacket, gloves and a hat for the high sections, lighter clothing for the valleys, waterproofs if travelling near monsoon, and sturdy shoes with grip throughout. Sun protection matters more at altitude than people expect.
