About This Grand Chandigarh Trip
Chandigarh is unlike any other Indian city because it was designed from nothing in the 1950s, master-planned by Le Corbusier on a grid of numbered sectors. The Capitol Complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and the city is consistently among the cleanest and greenest in the country.
The other side of it is Nek Chand's Rock Garden — acres of sculpture built secretly from industrial and domestic waste over eighteen years, and now one of the most visited places in the city.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can we visit the Capitol Complex in Chandigarh?
Yes, but not on a walk-in basis. The complex is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and access is by guided tour at fixed times, with registration required in advance and photo ID carried on the day. Tell us at booking if you want it included so the day can be planned around the slot.
What is the Rock Garden?
A sculpture garden of around 40 acres built by Nek Chand from recycled industrial and household waste — broken tiles, bangles, ceramics — initially in secret on government land. It was discovered in 1975 and preserved rather than demolished. Allow two to three hours.
Is Chandigarh worth a dedicated trip?
For architecture and design it is genuinely worth it, and a two-day stay covers the main sites comfortably. Many travellers also use it as a base or first stop before heading up to Shimla, Manali or Dharamshala, since the hill roads all start here.
